VP Introduces New Fuel

  • VP Introduces New Fuel
SAN ANTONIO, TX - VP Racing Fuels, the world leader in race fuel technology, today announced the latest generation of its U4-based fuels - U4.4TM. Designed for stock and modified 2- and 4-stroke applications, U4.4 offers more power across a wider range of applications, better throttle response and is less sensitive to heat than its predecessor U4.2, according to Steve Burns, VP's President and Director of R&D. “With horsepower gains up to 6% compared to premium pump gas, U4.4 is comparable to VP's best AMA Pro level race fuels for less than half the cost—a relatively inexpensive way to generate additional power.”

"U4.4 is designed as a direct, pour-in replacement for pump gas,” continued Burns. "It will require a modest jetting change—up to 2 main jets and 2 pilot jets at most, so customers can essentially 'pour in the power' and be on their way."

"Historically, generating maximum power from a motorcycle fuel required trade-offs in other areas, for example, residue build-up in the carburetor, vapor lock or other issues," added Burns. "With the new technology in U4.4, there are no trade-offs. It causes no residue build-up, will be more resistant to heat and will yield the most cost-effective power gains of any performance part on the market."

"U4.4 is ideal for engines with 10:1 to 13.5:1 compression," Burns continued, "and with its Motor Octane of 103 and oxygenation, it provides excellent detonation protection." U4.4 is designed for all 4-stroke applications, and because of its higher octane rating, it's appropriate for all 2-stroke applications as well. U4.4 passes AMA Pro/Am fuel rules and is perfect for CCS, WERA, AFM, NMA, WORCS, SCORE, Best in the Desert, club level racing and more.

Use of U4.4 will yield faster and more responsive engines without harming carburetors, O-rings or gaskets like some other race fuels will. The cost effectiveness of its performance gains should not be underestimated, according to Burns. "For example, a costly new exhaust system wouldn't generate as big a power increase and its increase would be on a smaller slice of the RPM range, while U4.4 produces power gains at all RPM levels," Burns said.

Regarding the evolution of its U4 product line, Burns concluded, "There are always improvements that can be made. We'll never be satisfied until we've explored all options for providing customers with the best technology and performance possible, and we have the ability to move quickly to introduce the newest technological developments to market. Making the best performing fuels is what we do for a living, and we’re pretty good at it."

Over its 35-year history, VP has earned a reputation for producing high quality racing fuels with superior power and consistency—as illustrated by its sweep of all AMA Pro Racing Championships in Superbike, Supercross, Motocross and Supermoto for five consecutive years through 2008. VP is also the official, spec fuel and/or contingency sponsor of AMA Dragbike, AMA Flat Track, AMA Motocross, AMA Supercross, NHRA and ADRL among more than 50 VP-sponsored sanctioning bodies.

In addition to fuels, VP's product line includes performance chemicals, specialty lubricants, traction compounds and racing-related accessories - each designed to produce the most power and best performance in their respective racing applications.
