Yoshimura Race Report: San Diego
February 9, 2010 2:55pm
Chino, Calif. - Yoshimura R&D of America had a spectacular night in San Diego on Saturday, where Round 5 of the AMA Supercross took place, thanks to the extraordinary race efforts of Honda Red Bull Racing's Davi Millsaps. Millsaps and his Yoshimura-powered CRF450R dominated the main event and took first place on a very rain-slicked track. Saturday marked the first win for Millsaps in the 2010 season.
"It's awesome to be back on top again," said Millsaps. "I'm really happy to put the Honda Red Bull Racing team and our sponsors on the podium two weeks in a row. There's no better result than winning. I felt good in the lead up to this event and I did my best to be as prepared as possible for whatever weather conditions came our way." Millsaps teammate, Andrew Short, was running second in the main event until he came up short on a triple.
Another Yoshimura-powered race bike, the No. 5 of Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, made some waves when Dungey took the holeshot in his heat race and won the race after taking the lead in the second to last lap. In the main event, Dungey had some bad luck at the first turn and had to come from the back of the pack. Dungey, with a damaged radiator, finished sixth overall and remains the points leader in the highly competitive 450 Supercross class.
