Monster Signs Mammoth Mountain
CORONA, Calif., – Officials at Monster Energy today announced that the M-claw logo will front America’s longest-running amateur MX race - the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross – scheduled for 11 days of racing action in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., June 17-27.
Running continuously since 1968, with the past ten years being sold out in terms of rider entries, the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross is the premier amateur MX event on the west coast and easily one of the highest-attended/contested amateur motocross events in the world. Averaging well in excess of 3,000 racers in every age group and bike classification available, “Mammoth,” as it’s known throughout the MX industry, is a perfect fit for Monster Energy’s core relation with the sport of dirt bike racing and the company’s largest move to date in sponsoring a national-caliber amateur motocross event.
“Tomorrow’s stars of Monster Energy Supercross can be seen today at Mammoth,” says Monster Energy’s Communications Director, Eric Johnson. “Monster Energy sees the importance in this and involving ourselves at the early stages of these athletes’ careers through the backing of the Monster Energy Mammoth Motocross. The grassroots nature of the event, coupled with the fact that it’s a week-long family destination and ‘celebration’ of the sport of motocross makes it a highly attractive property for Monster Energy to back.”
Located at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, the world-class Mammoth MX track is set up to challenge the top professional riders – including longtime Mammoth racer, Monster Energy’s Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath – as well as being rideable for everyone from the mini kids through the older Vet class racers. And new for this year is the fact all these riders will work to qualify for the Monster Energy Mammoth Mountain Motocross through the “Monster Energy Road to Mammoth Qualifier Series,” featuring qualifying events located through the state of California for the premier June event at Mammoth.
“Mammoth Motocross is proud to announce our new partnership with Monster Energy. The Monster team brings a great name and product to our event,” said Monster/Mammoth MX Director Mike Colbert. “We are happy to align ourselves with an organization whose values mirror our own, with a commitment to athlete excellence and stewardship of our environment.”
