Thor Weekend Wrap-Up
January 25, 2010 1:13pm
Saturday’s Monster Energy Supercross from Angel Stadium race produced some of the best racing we have seen in this very young 2010 season. However, there was one facet of the weekend action that was very similar to the first two rounds and that was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Jake Weimer’s location at the end of the evening. Weimer extended his AMA Supercross Lites class winning streak to three and does not appear to be relinquishing his stranglehold on the Western Regional Championship anytime soon.
In addition to Weimer’s dominance, there were some other Thor riders showcasing their talents on Saturday night. Weimer’s Pro Circuit teammate Josh Hansen was the winner of the first AMA Supercross Lites heat of the night and had his strongest showing of the season in the main event, finishing fourth overall. Josh looks to be hitting his stride and is poised to start competing with his teammate on a weekly basis.
In the Supercross class, Ryan Villopoto ran very strong early in the evening, grabbing second place in his heat. While the main event didn’t result in a podium finish for Villopoto, he remains well within reach of a shot at the title and currently holds down third position in the standings. Next week in San Francisco will be a great opportunity for Villopoto to close the gap between him and overall points leader Ryan Dungey. In case it caught your eye over the weekend, here is a closer look at the custom Flux Gear that Villopoto showcased over the weekend.
If the on-track action wasn’t enough, this weekend also marked the unveiling of Thor’s second commercial of the year. The newest commercial, entitled “Heart Beat,” highlights the success Thor has been fortunate to achieve in its 43-year involvement with the sport of motocross. Check out the website www.thormx.com to see the video and log on to Facebook and search “Thor MX – Official Page” to become a fan and keep up to date on all the latest from the sport’s longest-running apparel company.
