TiLUBE/Brown Motorsports Report

  • TiLUBE/Brown Motorsports Report
PHOENIX, AZ - While some people in Phoenix were glued to their television watching the Arizona Cardinals play football against the New Orleans Saints, Chase Field was packed with Supercross fans for the second round of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series.

TiLUBE-Brown Motorsports rider Nick Wey started the day off by qualifying 14th out of the 48 riders, earning him a great position for the night’s heat race. Wey was awarded 7th gate pick in the first heat race.

When the gate dropped for the first Supercross class heat race, Wey powered off the line with a good start and found himself in 6th after the first lap. With steady and consistent lap times Wey would qualify 7th for the main event.

In the Supercross main event, engines revved as the 30 second board dropped and the gate fell. As the pack rounded the first turn Wey was in 18th place and looking to better his position. When the first lap came to an end, Wey was still back in the pack riding in 18th position. For the next few laps, Wey rode smart and began to make passes on the very slippery Phoenix dirt. At the half way point Wey was in 13th. With a large gap to 12th Wey continued to ride smooth and steady to the finish in 13th.

Wey commented after the race “I was hopping for a better start to make things easier on myself. However, with the start I had and the slippery track conditions here in Phoenix I was focusing on smart steady consistent laps.”

Next weekend the series returns to Anaheim, CA and Angel Stadium for the third round of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series. Be sure to stop by the TiLUBE-Brown Motorsports truck to show your support and to have your picture taken with Nick Wey from 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm. See you there!
