Anaheim, Calif. – As 43,841 energetic fans watched in anticipation, GEICO Powersports Honda rider Trey Canard battled it out to capture second place in the opening round of the 2010 AMA Supercross Lites Series at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The event was broadcast live on SPEED Channel.
Coming off a 6th place finish in the West Supercross Lites class in 2009, and an East Supercross Lites Championship in 2008, Canard came to Anaheim in top form for the first race of the season. Canard finished the opening lap of the main event in 5th place and quickly went to work moving into third place over the next two laps. Making an aggressive move on lap nine, Canard passed his way into second with his sights set on the leader. While he ultimately was not able to reel the leader in by the finish, Canard held steady for the remainder of the race to capture second place.
Canard’s strong, aggressive riding proved he will be a top contender for the 2010 season. “I’m very happy with the way I rode,” said Canard “I’ve worked hard with the GEICO Powersports team and my trainer, and we’re ready to keep pushing hard next week”.
Trey Canard will head to Phoenix on January 16, in second place for the second round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series.
