National Hare and Hound Association Set to Kick Off January 24
January 6, 2010, 1:16pm
Los Angeles, Ca - After months of preparations, the 2010 AMA/Kenda Tires National Hare and Hound Series is about to kick off with a bang. Riders from across the country will converge in Johnson Valley, Ca for round one of the ten event series. Nearly 5000 spectators are expected to watch the big names of Off Road Desert racing take flight to tackle the 100 mile desert course.
“With the new year comes a whole new package,” explained Ryan Sanders of the National Hare and Hound Association (NHHA). “We have drastically changed the way that these events will be run. No longer will out of state riders show up and feel lost in the desert. New scoring, marking, and racing procedures will be in effect to help make the National Hare and Hound Experience a good one.”
Each of the 10 rounds will feature a standardized procedure, and the implementation of the NHHA means that riders will be able to address their issues to a centralized body on the scene of the event. A professional podium will feature an MC who will interview racers all weekend long, and even randomly award sponsor’s contingences to riders just for entering.
With multiple companies on board for the 2010 season, contingency will be a big part of the series. “We have decided to request these contingencies for the non-pro classes only.” Manager Chris Blais explains, “By awarding these things to the amateur racers, we are creating an incentive for the non pro’s to enter the race. The top 15 pro riders are already set with their sponsors for the year; it’s the rider who breaks into the top 20 for the first time that we are aiming to serve here. And it doesn’t stop at that. A review of our contingency section on the website shows that ‘C class’ riders, or AMA BEGINNERS, will have the chance to take home contingencies as well.”
The newly revamped website, www.nationalhareandhound.com is the one stop shop for everything National Hare and Hound. In addition to the contingency information, riders can obtain information on each individual round, as well as rules and regulations for the entire series.
“The new 2010 supplemental Hare and Hound rules have now been published by the AMA, and each racer should review the NHHA website before making the trip to the first round.” Sanders explained. “Working exclusively with Chuck Weir of the AMA, the NHHA is right where it wants to be coming into the 2010 season. We are hoping that the C class will be a big success. We are the first AMA sanctioned national series to chart points for the C class, and I know that those grass roots riders will be happy to be part of the action!”
National Hare and Hound Racing kicks off Sunday, January 24th at the Johnson Valley OHV area in southern California. For more information on the series visit www.nationalhareandhound.com
