Mitch Makes Up His Mind: Pourcel to the East
January 6, 2010, 1:12pm
After a few days of speculation, in part triggered by the fact that Mitch Payton signed up all five of his riders in the West Region Lites of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross tour, Eric Johnson just checked back in with this: After a long discussion with Kawasaki's Mike Fisher, Payton has made up his mind, and he's sending Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki superstar Christophe Pourcel back to the East Region after all.
"With the soft tracks over there, which Christophe likes, and the fact that Christophe lives in Florida now, we decided to keep him in the East," said Payton of his defending series champion. "So we'll have Jake [Weimer] and Josh [Hansen] here in the West, and Tyla [Rattray] for sure in the East."
The only question mark left is whether or not young Dean Wilson can be ready by Saturday, which is doubtful, though still a possibility.
Otherwise, the Canadian is headed East to join the Frenchmen Pourcel and the South African Rattray.
