Racer X: So, what do you have to say about your first trip to Australia?
Davi Millsaps: It’s a long flight out, and a long flight back! There’s not much more I can say. I haven’t really seen Australia! I got here Thursday morning, went straight to the hotel, Friday was Press Day, today I raced, and I fly home Sunday. It’s a fabulous life!
Yeah, mostly we get to see a lot of different hotels in different areas...
Yeah, I was going to stay, but to be honest, I had a really good time. It’s really cool here. It reminds me of Florida.
What were you thinking on the start line when it started just dumping rain like that?
If it was loose dirt, it would’ve been better!
But it’s hard-pack, so...
It was sketchy. It was a good time, though. I enjoyed the last two races. The first one sucked, but...
You were chasing down Chad Reed in that last moto, and you were finding good drive in some dry spots that others weren’t finding...
I was just trying to go. I didn’t really care where I was going or how I was going, I was just trying to have fun and enjoy the last few laps on an Australian track.
I would’ve liked to, but he decided to do that quad, and for me, I could barely make it in the dry, so I wasn’t planning on doing it in the mud.
How much do you weigh?
Like 200.
So you’ve got him by a bit of weight...
A lot! And it wasn’t really my whole bike, so I didn’t have all of the power I would normally have. It was fun, though.
You said on the podium, “See you next year.” You want to come back?
No, I will be coming back. I already made a promise.
So do you think there’s kind of a future for people using these races as warm-ups for the AMA stuff?
Yeah, it was fun! I enjoyed it. You fly in, see a new country, and if you do a couple of them, you’ll see other new countries, and it’s like you’re racing on vacation!
