Few riders evoke the same respect and emotion among fans as Doug Henry. His statesmanship on and off the track has secured his place among the sport’s most core fans as a true hero. Doug was in the booth for most of the events at the X-Games so we will cover all of that, the riders of today, and of course his plans to get back on a bike.
Is it just me, or are the outdoors just not the same without Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Timmy Ferry on the track? The pigment challenged Floridian has always been a fan favorite and we have suffered right along with him through this latest bout with injuries. His 7th overall last weekend was a great ride, but you just know he wants more. Look for Red Dog to better that in the last two rounds of the season.
Valli Motorsports / Yamaha’s Kyle Regal is officially no longer a secret. The former amateur hotshot is making the most of the outdoor season and continues to impress with a solid 4th overall at Budds Creek in the big boy class. This hard working, polite kid is easy to pull for and we will catch up with him tonight.
Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott has been selected again to ride for the United States ISDE team in Portugal. For those of you that are not familiar with the event, it stands for the International Six Days Enduro! Six days of consecutive riding for approximately 750 miles against 30 other countries in basically the Olympics of off-road racing. Destry will also talk about the need to get our own medical personnel to race as well. Donations are being accepted at www.riderdown.org to have ER physician, James McGee, and life-flight medic Mike McGee on the trip. You can just imagine how important this kind of support is. Please note on your donation that it goes towards the ISDE medical trip. Also, look for auctions at the Unadilla GNCC and more fund raisers and ride days in the near future. We know times are tight, but please spread the word and give a little if you can.
Valli Motorsports / Yamaha’s James "My friends call me Jimmy" Albertson is truly one of the good guys. We are stoked for our friend’s success in the pro ranks and always look forward to having him on the show.
Shift Racing’s Rob Salcedo is a perfect fit at the cutting edge gear company. Always pushing the envelope, Rob is as motocross core as they come. We will see what Shift has in lined up for the future. Check out their latest swag at www.shiftracing.com
I believe that most of us have been affected by cancer in one form or another. That single word that can devastate a family in a heartbeat. Shasta Johnson will be on to highlight the second annual Race to Cure Breast Cancer at Steel City fundraiser. The Mystery Rider Auction is only one of the innovative activities scheduled for the Labor Day event. All proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Philadelphia Breast cancer 3-Day walk for the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure. Fans who attend the race wearing an item of pink clothing will be awarded a raffle ticket and a chance at some great prizes. Let’s show them that motocross fans can rock out the pink for a great cause!
