KTM’s Brown and Soulè Finish 1-2
Adelanto, CA – KTM Factory riders Mike Brown and Justin Soulè finished first and second respectively at the second round of the WORCS series held at Racetown 395.
Brown had a great start rounding the first turn in 2nd place behind the early leader, Ricky Dietrich. Soulè wasn’t as fortunate on the start, commenting, “I started about 12th and luckily was able to cut under about six guys to come around the end of the start turn in 6th.”
After the first lap, Brown remained in 2nd and Soulè still sat in 6th moving closer toward the top five. “I just tried to hold the pace the leaders were running and before I knew it, I had caught the pack and was able to begin to pick off riders,” stated Soulè. By lap three, Soulè had moved into 3rd and was beginning to close in on his teammate, Brown. Soulè passed Brown on the end of the third lap, but Brown did not fade – he stayed right on the tail of Soulè as the two teammates began to chase down the leader.
Soon, they had both caught up to Dietrich, who was still leading. Soulè made the pass for the lead and proceeded to lead the race up until the second to last lap. With two laps to go, Brown and Soulè began a battle for the win that had the crowd on their toes. “We banged bars a couple times, but it was because we both wanted the win so bad,” remarked Soulè. Brown passed Soulè and would go on to take the win finishing five seconds ahead of Soulè when the checkered flag flew.
“I am happy to get my first WORCS win. I have been training hard and knew this was a course I would do well on. I am even more pleased that Justin (Soulè) was able to finish on the podium with me. It speaks wonders for the KTM team and the KTM bike,” commented Brown after the race.
Soulè added, “I am so happy to be on the podium. This is my best WORCS finish since I turned pro and I plan to continue with these results for the remainder of the season.”
