AURORA, Ill. (Jan. 10, 2008) – The Toyota AMA Arenacross Series returns to Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena this weekend, Jan. 11-12, for two nights of professional indoor motocross racing with the world’s top arenacross-style racers competing in the country’s premier arenacross series.

Fans of the Toyota AMA Supercross Series can purchase kids tickets for both nights of racing for just $8. Cycle World, located at 5810 Ritchie Hwy in Baltimore, is offering discount tickets for this weekend’s race. For more information on Cycle World, log on to www.cycleworldbaltimore.com.

“The Toyota AMA Arenacross Series always delivers a great show at 1st Mariner Arena,” said Jayme Dalsing, director of Toyota AMA Arenacross. “Last year Baltimore was a turning point event for the series, with Friday night winner Robbie Reynard making up a bunch of ground on eventual Toyota AMA Arenacross Series winner Danny Smith. We fully expect the 1st Mariner Round to be just as exciting and as crucial towards the overall points chase as it was last season.”

Both Smith and Reynard are back in the standings and have some catching up to do, which may make Baltimore even that much more exciting given two of the best racers are backed into a corner!

This past weekend the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series split two races in Grand Rapids, Mich., and a Saturday night only race in Kansas City, Mo. Splitting the wins in Grand Rapids were Brock Sellards (Babbitt’s Online/Kawasaki on Friday and Team Fiberwise Pasta/Yamaha’s Keith Johnson on Saturday. Winning the Kansas City event was Ti Lube/Honda’s Teddy Maier.

Following Reynard’s Friday win at Baltimore last year, 2005-’06 champion and current Toyota AMA Arenacross Series points leader Chad Johnson won the Saturday main event at 1st Mariner Arena – which inadvertently got some points back for Smith, who didn’t figure in the top-five scoring either night. Winning the Arenacross Lites class races in Baltimore last year were Cory Green (Friday) and Jim Neese (Saturday).
