JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Anaheim 1 Re-Cap

  • JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Anaheim 1 Re-Cap

We have said that 2008 is a learning and foundational setting year for the JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha team, and at Anaheim we felt we learned a lot.  We also feel that we helped set the foundation with a professional appearance at the season opener.

We worked as a team for the first time, everything from parking the semi, setting up the tent canopy, and getting through the event schedule.

Our objectives for this year are simple, we want to demonstrate a highly professional presence, have the best equipment available, not suffer any mechanical problems, make the main events, and aim for top-10 finishes.  In 2009 our goals will include racing for the podium.

We received a lot of positive feedback on our presence, our equipment is top-notch, including works suspension, and we had no mechanical issues even in dire conditions.  On the downside we only had one rider in the main, and were out of the top-10.

We don’t make excuses, our results on the track did not meet our objectives, but we are in this for the long haul and we will improve over time.  To re-cap, Summey cased a triple in his heat race which pinched a nerve in his shoulder causing his arm to go numb.  In the NFL we call this a “stinger.”  He did what he could in the last chance qualifier but it did not work out.

Hansen qualified out of his heat race but struggled in the main, crashing and  finishing 20th.  Even so, Hanny was glad to get his first race on the big bikes behind him.

We are back in North Carolina getting ready for Phoenix, thanks for checking out the newsletter.
