CARLSBAD, Calif., (Jan. 4, 2008) – Deluge Sport Drink announced today that the company will sponsor the New York based Atomic Team, featuring veteran SX/MX racer Paul Carpenter, along with his younger cousin, Jack Carpenter.
The Buffalo, N.Y., team started out last year as a way to get Jack Carpenter to the U.S. Outdoor Nationals while his cousin, Paul, was contesting the Canadian MX Nationals north of the border.
“After our first meeting I knew we were serious and we put all the pieces together by Sept. 15th – including bring Deluge Sport Drink on as a major sponsor of the Atomic program,” said Paul Carpenter. “We have a great group of six employees and transporter and are really looking forward to the SX opener this weekend in Anaheim.”
Joining Carpenter to handle the wrenching duties on the Hondas will be his mechanic from last year, Chris Rohde. Along with Rohde the team will feature seasoned mechanic Steve Westfall (Jack Carpenter’s tuner), Dave Richards, who’ll work with Paul Carpenter on the administrative side of the team and Boo Boo Sawdey, who will head up the truck driving duties.”
“Everybody at Deluge Sport Drink would like to wish Paul, Jack and the rest of the team the best of luck this season,” said Deluge Sport Drink’s Jon Brata. “It’s good to see a hard-working guy like Paul Carpenter step up and start his own team. Certainly something Deluge Sport Drink is pleased to be associated with.”
According to Paul Carpenter, the team will contest both the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship, along with the Outdoor Nationals. “My goal is to ride my way to a top ten finish both in supercross and the Nationals and I’d like to see Jack make the night shows indoors and earn points outdoors,” said Paul Carpenter. “I would consider that a great year.”
