This week's collection comes from Mark Edwards of Huntington Beach, CA.
In 1969 I was in 6th grade. I lived outside of Sacramento, California at the time. I was talking to one of my classmates about dirt bikes.
Remember this is 1969 and dirt bikes were just starting to get popular in America. He said that he and his brother raced. I didn't believe him, so one day I got permission to go home with him. I will never forget that day. He took me into his bedroom and there she was, a 1968 red/white Honda Z50 Mini Trail. He had a number plate on the front and many trophies in his room. I couldn't believe it. From that day I always wanted to get one of those red/white 1968 Mini Trails. Well here it is, 38 years later, and I finally got one. I had been looking for about a year and finally found one (the 1968 model with no lights is pretty rare) in SoCal where I now live. The little Z50 sold for $250 back in 1968. I must say I paid 10 times that and then I had to restore it. Oh well, such is life. Now I have it and I couldn't be happier. I wonder what ever happened to the that classmate. Mark Smick I believe was his name.
