2008 Loretta Lynn's Regional Schedule
Morgantown, WV (November 15, 2007) – MX Sports, producer of the Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, has finalized the schedule for the 2008 Air Nautiques/AMA Regional Championships.
The 12 Regional Championships coincide with the 12 different regions across the country and provide the second and final stage of the qualification process in preparation for the national championship. The Regional Championships consist of a three moto format and longer motos in an effort to prepare the participants for the three twenty-minute motos at the national.
AMA Amateur Motocross Manager Ryan Holiday says, “The Regional Championships are an ever growing part of the program and have become a championship within a championship on the road to Loretta Lynn's. We have a great group of AMA promoters that do an excellent job organizing these very important events.”
OEM manufacturers provide technical support at every event and offer substantial contingency programs for the participants. In addition, team managers often view the regional events as the second biggest race of the year for their individual programs.
Kawasaki Team Green’s Dave Gowland added, “Kawasaki believes that the regional events set the stage for what's to come and gives Team Green riders an indication of what lies ahead. These events are good confidence builders for some, while for others it may indicate that they need to step up their program if they are looking for podium results at the big dance.”
Director of MX Sports, Tim Cotter, says, “We are excited to take the 2008 regionals to many of the premiere race tracks in the country. The AMA and MX Sports have great confidence the regional promoters are up to the task.”
