Sign of the (Lap) Times: Klotz Ironman GNCC
The dust has settled on the 13th and final round of the 2007 Can-Am GNCC series, and pre-season title favorite David Knight, aboard a Red Bull KTM, was able to capture the championship in the XC1 pro class in his first full season here in the U.S., picking up where Juha Salminen left off. The Red Bull KTM team swept both major classes, as Justin Williamson was able to take the title in the XC2 Pro Lites division, as well.
A question many people ponder is how the XC2 Pro Lites riders stack up against the XC1 class. We sorted through the lap times and found the two fastest lap times for the top 10 in each class for you to check out for today’s Sign of the (Lap) Times.
As you can see below, David Knight proved he was the fastest and strongest in Indiana, logging a best lap of 23 minutes and 36 seconds in the seven lap race. He backed that up with a 23:47. Am Pro Yamaha's Charlie Mullins was thisclose to Knight on lap two, with a time one hundredth of a second slower. And Mullins' second-fastest lap was actually quicker than that of Knight's. The only other rider who was able to dip down into the 23-minute range was Parts Unlimited/Moose Honda's Paul Whibley, who barely got there with a 23:59.

In the XC2 Pro Lites, the fastest lap came from second-place finisher Scott Watkins. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider’s 24:14 was faster than all but the top three in the XC1 class, proving that this kid got some game. Class winner, Thad DuVall, showed great consistency throughout the day, with his second-best time only three hundredths of a second off of his quickest lap. The same can be said for XC2 champion Justin Williamson.
