  • Bell Signs Byrne

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. –Michael Byrne joined the growing list of riders racing in Bell’s Moto-8, inking a deal with the helmet-maker this week. Byrne, who finished 7th and 8th in the 2007 AMA Supercross and Motocross series’, respectively, joins the likes of Grant Langston, Nick Wey, and Jeremy McGrath as a Bell Rider for 2008.

“I’d heard some really good things about the Moto-8 and decided to give it a try,” said Byrne. “In testing it felt amazingly light and the ventilation was insane. I’m really happy to be on board and racing in this helmet.”

Equally happy were the guys at Bell who are ecstatic to add another top motocrosser the family.

“Michael is one of those perennial top-ten guys who’s exciting to watch week after week,” said Chuck Platt, sports marketing manager for Bell. “2008 is shaping up as a big year for Bell and Michael will be a big part of it. We’re really proud to have him in our helmets.”

One of the reasons so many top riders are drawn to the Moto-8 is its comfort factor. At the heart of the Moto-8 is Bell’s exclusive Velocity Flow Ventilation system that uses a sophisticated set of vents, ducts, exhaust ports and flow management features to create a natural turbulence engine which literally pulls air through the helmet. This coupled with its lightweight TriMatrix Composite shell, easy-to-adjust Flying Bridge Visor and quick drying comfort liner, provides a hassle- and fatigue-free experience while keeping the rider cool and dry.

The Moto-8 was designed, engineered, tested and prototyped from the ground up at Bell’s Santa Cruz, Calif. facility over a period of three years. Bell engineers have continued to tweak the design since its introduction in 2005, bringing an already excellent design even closer to perfection.

Headquartered in Santa Cruz, Calif., Bell is the world’s preeminent supplier of helmets for motorcycling, auto racing, bicycling and skate use.
