Rigel Entertainment Teen Motocross Feature Metal Birding Goes Full Throttle with High School Musical Star Corbin Bleu

Los Angeles – October 19, 2007 - Rigel Entertainment is set to commence principal photography this November in Vancouver on the Corbin Bleu starrer Metal Birding, an action-filled story of perseverance and sacrifice set amidst the physically demanding and visually spectacular world of motocross.  The announcement was made today by John F. S. Laing, CEO, Rigel Entertainment.

"Metal Birding has all the elements of box office success—a great story packed with tension and emotion, a hugely popular star, and motocross stunts that will wow the audience," commented Laing.

Hollywood heart-throb Bleu stars as nineteen-year-old Cale Bryant, a pre-eminent racer on the local motocross circuit.  His dream to win the Amateur National Championships is surpassed only by his devotion to his down-on-their luck family. With the support of his best friend and girlfriend, Cale manages to juggle his passion for his sport with two jobs, in order to help his single mother pay the bills. But on the eve of the national competition, a family tragedy strikes, potentially signifying the end of a dream.

In this riveting coming-of-age story, Cale’s fierce loyalty to his family and intense passion to ride helps him to overcome the odds as he courageously takes care of his mother—and the challenge of the circuit—to fulfill his ambition.

"I'm excited to start filming Metal Birding because it's pushing me to go to places I've never gone before on an emotional level" added Bleu.  "Aside from the sheer physical demands of motocross, my character is on this really intense mental journey—encountering adversity at every turn and having to find his inner-core, which drives him to persevere through it all. It's going to be one wild ride."

Metal Birding is directed by Jeff Woolnough (NCIS, Dark Angel, Silk Stalkings, Battlestar Galactica). The original screenplay was written by Jeffrey Nicholson and Joshua Leibner (Danika, starring Marissa Tomei).

Metal Birding is a Rigel Entertainment presentation in association with Up North Entertainment and Waterfront Pictures. Executive Producers are John F.S. Laing, Rigel Entertainment; David Doerksen, Waterfront Pictures; Michael Emanuel, Canal Street Films; Randy James, James/Levy Management Inc.; David Reivers, Blueman Inc.; and Donald Paul Pemrick & Dean E. Fronk, Pemrick/Fronk Casting. Alys Shanti is overseeing production on behalf of Rigel Entertainment. Casting by Donald Paul Pemrick & Dean E. Fronk, Pemrick/Fronk Casting.

Corbin Bleu is represented by Randy James of James/Levy Management Inc., and Bonnie Liedtke and Thor Bradwell of the William Morris Agency. Legal representative is Patti Felker at Nelson, Guggenheim, Felker & Levine.
