4th Annual Oceano Beach Race

  • 4th Annual Oceano Beach Race
WORCS rolls into Pismo.....

The annual Oceano Beach Endurance race is less than a week away and there are still two WORCS Pro Championships to hand out for 2007. The Pro events are scheduled for Sunday- Oct. 21st with both WORCS Pro Bike & ATV running parallel courses, same as last year.

On the ATV side its no stranger that the calculations have came up that Josh Frederick needs only four points to secure his first ever WORCS ATV Pro Championship. Josh's worst finish came last month in Monticello where he came unfortunate to electrical problems on his new Can-Am 450. Josh's crew scrambled and was able to get him out and salvage a 15th place finish. Doug Eichner seemed he would bag this race, but he as well fell victim to a 13th place finish due to a mid race cracked frame. Can you say bad luck? Doug's motivation is his experience in the sand where he has won the Beach race two years in a row and ironically Josh DNF'd last year, so Doug is hoping Josh is counting his chickens before they hatch. Look for an exciting ATV Pro race Sunday at noon.

On the Bike side, the huge news is who is going to make a last minute run at this championship. With two rounds left (Pismo & Taft) Factory KTM rider Kurt Caselli & Monster Energy's Kawasaki pilot Nathan Woods are separated by 25 points. The interesting fact is that Nathan Woods has won this race 3 years in a row and in dominating fashion. Nathan resides only 45 minutes north in the town of Paso Robles,Ca. It's no secret that he rides the sand well and you could easily consider the Oceano Dunes Nathan's home track. Don't count out Kurt Caselli, he rides really well in sand and I'm sure is looking to gap the points as they head into Taft for the final round on Nov. 3rd, 2007. Anyway you look at it, there is sure to be fireworks on the beach this coming Sunday.

The race weekend kicks off Friday at noon, with the Road 2 Recovery "Are You Too Cool for Skool" Benefit Motorcycle Riding school. You can find information at www.road2recovery.com, click events. Then Saturday morning at 7:30am kicks off the official WORCS races. The Oceano Beach Endurance race is ran in conjunction with the WORCS series and it is unique with the ATVs & Bikes running parallel courses for the entire weekend.

Come out and enjoy a fun filled weekend of racing. All info can be found at www.worcsracing.com, click 2007 season and highlight the Pismo Beach race flyer.

There will be a Charity BBQ Saturday night on the beach, all proceeds go towards the SCI Research. More info on the festivities can also be found at www.oceanobeachrace.com
