  • Red Bull MXoN - A Glance at the Backstage

BUDDS CREEK, 26 September 2007 - With a total of 75000 spectators, and marking the event’s comeback to America after a 20 year absence, last weekend’s Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations was one of the most successful events that promoter Youthstream has ever organized.

Under President Giuseppe Luongo’s guide, Youthstream has been working hard for this event, offering the crowd a magnificent show.

But there is more beyond what the crowd can see, and with an established promoter like Youthstream, having contacts and influence all over the world, there is plenty of backstage activity.

Youthstream is very active in supporting Wings for Life, a three year old foundation studying spinal cord injuries and trying to find a cure for spinal paralysis. Wings for Life, founded by Heinz Kinigadner and Red Bull’s Dietrich Mateschitz, brought lots of important guests into a special press conference, where Youthstream President Giuseppe Luongo confirmed his company’s commitment in supporting the foundation.

Legendary Ricky Carmichael has been the focus of the entire weekend, as this was the multiple champion’s last appearance in the event. In this occasion, Ricky took the chance to thank Youthstream for having organized the event in the latest years, and for having brought the event back to his home country. Moreover, Youthstream has handed the Champ a special career Award, and has created the Ricky Carmichael Motocross of Nations Award Youngest Rider, which was won by Arnaud Tonus this year.

Giuseppe Luongo offered Ricky Carmichael a box of cigars to enjoy for when he has retired from Motocross racing.

Carmichael was given the cigars in front of FIM/CMS President Dr. Wolfgang Srb and Hannes Kinigadner

Martin O’Malley, the Governor of Maryland, was welcomed to the Youthstream VIP hospitality by Giuseppe Luongo and during this occasion he also met the FIM President -Mr. Vito Ippolito, the FIM/CMS President - Wolfgang Srb and the AMA President - Mr. Rob Dingman.  Governor O’Malley was overwhelmed by the FIM Red Bull Motocross of Nations.

Giuseppe Luongo thanked the fans at Budds Creek

Giuseppe Luongo addressed the public to thank them for their fantastic behaviour over the three days of the FIM Red Bull Motocross of Nations.  There were already 10,000 fans who arrived on Friday, 25,000 came on Saturday and 40,000 were there on Sunday and there were no accidents or any major trouble.  The spectators that were present this weekend are connoisseurs of Motocross; they all chose the best spots around the track to strongly support their teams.  In the end after the podium and after the various parties in the different hospitalities they swiftly left the venue taking with them the wonderful souvenir of assisting to an important page on the history of Motocross.

The show will go on, and according to Youthstream’s philosophy, it will reach new and more important goals, with next year’s Motocross of Nations taking place in Northern Ireland.
