Makita Partners with Kicker Car Stereo to give away a one-of-a-kind 2,000-Watt Tool Crib

SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories, has partnered with Kicker Car Stereo to give away a one-of-a-kind Makita Kick’n Tool Crib featuring a 2,000 watt Kicker Stereo System, $3,500 in Makita18V Lithium-Ion Tools, a one-year supply of Monster Energy Drink, and more. The sweepstakes will also give five first prize winners an Ogio 9800 Gear bag.

“The Makita Kick’n Tool Crib is tool storage on steroids,” said Brent Withey, Makita brand manager.

“We took the best of the best, Kicker audio systems, and put it together with Makita’s industrial quality power tools and Monster Energy Drink. This tool crib is big, loud and fully-equipped. It’s just the thing for a professional tool user to make their mark on a jobsite.”

Makita’s Kick’n Tool Crib is a one-of-a-kind contractor’s jobsite tool crib. It started with a JOBOX Premium Field Office Box featuring steel construction and 104 cubic feet of storage. Then came $3,500 in cordless power tools from Makita’s LXT Series featuring 18 volt Lithium-Ion battery technology, a powerful 2,000 watt Kicker Stereo System, a 19-inch LCD Display Monitor, and a one-year supply of Monster Energy Drinks. The Makita tools and Kicker Stereo System components are securely packed inside the Kick’n Tool Crib with customized Q-Logic vacuum-formed tool housing and enclosures. The tool crib features a custom airbrushed design by Simon Evans using PPG paint and SATA airbrush equipment. Evans is an internationally recognized expert in custom automotive painting, with a range of high profile projects including a custom paint design on the CNN “Warrior One” Humvee.

Makita’s partnership with Kicker is part of the brand’s ongoing effort to reach the younger, high-energy professional tool user.
“We worked with the ultimate sound company to build the ultimate tool crib,” said Withey. “Kicker’s ‘Livin’ Loud’ lifestyle definitely registers with Makita tool users.”

For Kicker, the collaboration with Makita was a chance to work with a best-in-class brand name with a connection to their customers.

“Makita brings a wealth of marketing experience within our shared demographic,” said Roger Demaree, Kicker brand manager. “Similar to Kicker, they’re a longtime, engineering-based, product drivencompany with a strong industry presence. The opportunity for additional collaboration in the future appears imminent.”
