  • Wings For Life - Making Spinal Paralysis Curable

BUDDS CREEK, 22 September 2007- During this Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations held in Budds Creek, America, Wings for Life took the chance to announce a significant improvement that links the three year old foundation and America.

Finally Wings for Life can accept donations in the United States; all the donations are tax deductible, and will be used entirely to support the research. Wings for Life is actually supported by Red Bull, compensating  all  accumulating  overhead  costs. Wings for Life was founded in 2004 by Heinz Kinigadner and Red Bull’s head Dietrich Mateschitz, with the goal of linking every scientist studying spinal cord injuries.

In order to select the best projects seeking financial support from the foundation, Wings for Life currently consults a panel of experts and an advisory board which is composed of leading international neuroscientists, including professors from Harvard Medical School, McGill and Yale University.

Moreover Wings for Life, which Youthstream is cooperating with, is the only foundation conducting research aimed at prevention of spinal cord injuries.

At the end of the day, all the participants in the press conference –among which there were former riders such as Ernesto Fonseca, Danny “Magoo” Chandler, Pit Beirer, and captain of the United States quadriplegic wheelchair rugby team Marc Zupan, and Kawasaki Team Manager Mitch Payton- agreed with founder Heinz Kinigadner’s opinion: “There is no greater commitment than a promise. And there is no excuse for disappointing legitimate hopes.”
