When was the first motocross race? The answer to this question used to be considered "lost to the mists of time," but half a decade ago we trekked to England and uncovered the answer: organized motocross began in 1924 on Camberley Heath at a race called the Southern Scott Scramble. If you're in the mood for a little history lesson (and some very rare photography) before this weekend's chock-full-of-tradition Motocross of Nations, check out Bryan Stealey's "A Rare Old Scramble on Camberley Heath," which originally ran in the August 2002 (Volume 5/Number 8) issue of
Racer X Illustrated.
