  • Monster Energy Kawasaki Off-Road Riders To Contest EnduroCross Series

IRVINE, Calif. (September 11, 2007) – Monster Energy Kawasaki announced today that team riders Ricky Dietrich, Destry Abbott and Nathan Woods will compete in the new three-round 2007 AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series.

Dietrich, who is now fully recovered from an injury earlier in the year, will being attending all three rounds of the EnduroCross aboard his Kawasaki KX™250F. In addition to racing the Denver endurocross Saturday night, he will be making the trip to Hollister, Calif. for the WORCS race on Sunday.

“It will be tough racing both series in one weekend but I am really excited to return to this type of racing,” said Dietrich, who missed last year’s EnduroCross due to a schedule conflict with the International Six-Day Enduro. “I did pretty well last time I raced and I know it’s going to be fun to race all the events.”

Abbott and Woods will attend the races in Oklahoma and Las Vegas but will miss round one in Denver since it conflicts with round 10 of the WORCS series. Both riders will be competing aboard the all-new Kawasaki KLX™450R.

“Nathan and Destry will continue to focus on the WORCS series point’s battle, which has gotten much closer over the last few rounds,” said Off-Road Supervisor Jason Smigel. “We know Ricky can do a great job at representing the team at all the rounds of the series.”

After several years of a successful single event in Las Vegas, the AMA and promoters made the decision earlier this year to make it a three-race series.

“Three rounds might sound like a short series,” said Tim Clark, co-promoter of the event. “But it is important that we start out slow with quality events. We are also very pleased that Kawasaki chose to compete in this new series. Riders like Dietrich, Woods and Abbott are all talented enough to walk away with the championship.”

The first round of the AMA/Maxxis National EnduroCross Series will take place on September 29 at the National Western Complex in Denver, CO then move to Guthrie, OK on October 6 with the final round in Las Vegas on November 17.
