Sign of the (Lap) Times: Budds Creek

Lites

If anyone doubted Ryan Villopoto’s 1-1 sweep at Budds Creek, he definitely backed it up with logging the fastest moto times of the Lites class each time out. In moto 1 his fastest time was over a second faster than Townley, and it was almost two seconds faster in Moto 2.

The lap times pretty much reflected the finish of the top five guys, as Jason Lawrence was third quickest, followed by Josh Grant and Ryan Dungey, with Dungey getting the nod over Grant in the overall results.

A rider who was on the gas in the first moto was Lucas Oil/Star Racing Yamaha’s Daniel Sani, who went down in the first turn, crashed again midway through the moto, yet still made his way to 12th. His lap time reflected his hard charge, as it was the sixth fastest time (02:05.623) in the class. His teammate, Broc Tickle, wasn’t too far off of his pace, running a fast lap of 02:06.256.

Motocross

Similar to the Lites class, the overall winner had the fastest lap time in both motos, although he didn’t have a 1-1 sweep. Both RC and James were the only two riders to dip below the two-minute mark with their lap times, and they were only able to do that in the first moto. The second moto they were both about three seconds off of their first moto times, turning in 2:01s.

San Manuel’s Chad Reed was the next fastest rider in the class in the first moto, as he was getting a closer look at the track that he’ll be racing in a few months representing Team Australia at the Motocross des Nations.

In the second moto, the third fastest lap time came from Red Bull KTM’s Mike Alessi, who clocked a 2:03.853 on his way to finishing fifth.
