Mackenzie Captures Britain’s First MX1 Victory on the Grand Prix Circuit
Domination at the Sugo circuit is nothing new for Scottish rider Billy Mackenzie. With 24,000 fans in tow, the 23 year old, who has won the MX2 class at Sugo in 2005 and 2006, became the first ever British rider to capture victory in the MX1 category with first and second positions and also provided the potent KX450-F SR with its maiden victory in the premier competition of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Grand Prix Japan in the last May 27th race.
Despite placing third in Japan, Joshua Coppins, still remains the current overall leader in the FIM Motocross standings. Kevin Strijbos follows sixty-three points behind in second place and Steve Ramon stands in third place overall.
