The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amp'd Mobile, the start-up wireless carrier that is the title sponsor the AMA Supercross and FIM World Supercross series, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection over the weekend. According to the report, Bill Stone, president of Amp'd Mobile, confirmed that the company filed for bankruptcy protection. "Mr. Stone said the company was forced to make the move because its business has been growing fast in the past 6 to 8 months and couldn't keep up with the growth," said the paper, then it quoted Mr. Stone as saying, "We are pretty confident we'll come out stronger."
No word on how this bankruptcy filing will affect the company's sponsorship of supercross or other sports.
