MDK and KTM Form New Factory Lites Team
Temecula, CA – MDK Racing, LLC (MDK) and KTM North America, Inc. signed a three year contract for a four rider MDK Lites factory KTM Team.
MDK Racing has already established themselves as one of the leading Supercross and Motocross “privateer” teams in the world. KTM has also been heavily involved in the Supercross and Motocross scene as they currently compete in their seventh year with the Red Bull KTM Racing Team. Now by joining hands both companies can share in the success as they create a title for themselves in the Lites classes.
MDK Team Owner, Mark Kvamme and MDK Racing’s Director of Racing Operations, Danny Paladino, along with KTM Race Director Kurt Nicoll developed the plan to create a Lites Team. Nicoll stated, “We look forward to working closely with MDK. We feel the relationship will be easily maintained as both companies have headquarters in Temecula, CA. MDK has extensive technical resources that together with the KTM bike will produce a winning motorcycle. We’ve signed a long term contract with the ultimate goal of winning Lites championships.”
It is clear that the excitement about the Team stems from both sides, Paladino states, “The FMF introduction to KTM has paid great dividends and we are thrilled to be working closely with Kurt as the Factory KTM Lites Team. MDK has recently created a separate racing facility dedicated exclusively to the new KTM Lites team in Murrieta. We anticipate a great first year and are looking forward to having an MDK KTM bike on the top of the podium.”
Justin Brayton has signed a two-year deal with the team and is thrilled at the chance to ride factory bikes for a solid team. Brayton will be joined by three other riders to compete in the 2008 season. Two riders will compete in the West Coast Supercross Lites series and two in the East. All four team riders will compete in the outdoor motocross series.
