  • Monster Energy’s Ben Townley & Ryan Villopoto Open The MX Outdoor Season With 1-2

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki racers dominant at NorCal track  – opening round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ben Townley and Ryan Villopoto, hot off their Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series regional Lites class championships, continued their reign on the AMA Lites class division with a 1-2 finish – respectively – at the opening round of the 2007 AMA Motocross Championships at Prairie City (Calif.) SVRA Park, aka “Hangtown,” on Sunday.

The former Euro GP champ Townley was nothing short of stellar with his second moto performance. The New Zealander had to deal with the fact that he was chased down and passed by teammate Villopoto in the first moto after Villopoto crashed out of the lead. Townley’s dominant performance in the second moto for sure raised eyebrows within the industry, and no doubt has everybody excited for this weekend’s event in Mt. Morris, Pa.

“This weekend our team’s the title sponsor of the race at High Point, so it’s going to make it that much more special if you can win it,” said Townley. “I didn’t get to race there last year and I’ve heard a lot of nice things about the track, so it should be a real good race.”

Moto results from Hangtown were: Townley 2-1, Villopoto 1-2.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the running of this weekend’s Monster Energy/Kawasaki High Point National in Mt. Morris, Pa., Round Two of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy supports the sport. Be it MX, road racing, supermoto, off-road, FMX, skate, MTB, off-road, surf, snow, BMX – name it – the athletes are rockin’ Monster Energy more than anything these days. Check out all the types – Original Monster Energy, Monster Lo-Carb, Monster Assault, Monster Khaos, the new Monster/fruit juice hybrid called “M-80” and the ground-breaking Java Monster premium coffee & cream supercharged with our Monster Energy blend. Townley & Villopoto dig ‘em – so will you. On the ‘Net at www.monsterenergy.com.
