  • Patterson Wins Hangtown WMA Event

Bend, OR (May 20, 2007) – The VP Fuels round of the AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross Championship presented by Kawasaki was held at Hangtown MX National, Saturday, May 19th. The second stop of the WMA Championship, with the new race day schedule for the WMA, saw Jessica Patterson again going 1-1 on her American Honda/Honda of Houston/Bad Boy Power Drink machine.

The first moto was held at 10:15 am prior to AMA Pro Racing on a fresh Hangtown track. Sarah Whitmore got the holeshot on her Girlyz/Yamaha. Jessica Patterson made an early pass on Whitmore and took control of the moto. Yamaha’s Tarah Gieger gave chase to Patterson but could not make up time. Geiger crashed and finished 6th in the moto. Local favorite, Alisa Nix inherited the 2nd position and maintained it to the finish. After a back and forth battle with Team Green Kawasaki Rider Tania Satchwell, Whitmore moved up to 3rd while Kawasaki/MSR rider Elizabeth Bash went by Satchwell for 4th on the last lap after Satchwell crashed.

Moto two was held following the AMA Pro Timed Qualifiers and LCQ on very different track conditions.  Patterson got the Girlyz holeshot award followed by Whitmore. Patterson again led the entire moto to the finish. Whitmore remained in 2nd until the sixth lap where she crashed on a braking bump just after being passed by Gieger, who came back from a poor start. Toyota/Yamaha sponsored Alisa Nix finished in 3rd.

The overall went Patterson, Nix and Gieger.
