1st Annual Read For Speed Challenge
The First Annual “Read for Speed” Challenge, presented by The Dominion Post, Racer Productions and Centra Bank kicked off on Monday, April 30 and ran through Tuesday, May 15. Seven second grade classes in Monongalia County – nearly 200 students – collectively read hundreds of books during the two week contest period. The winning class and the individual who read the most books will be announced on May 25, 2007.
The winning class will receive a pizza party at which they will be visited by a surprise Motocross athlete, plus each child will get a ticket to the 2007 Pro Motocross National at High Point Raceway. The child who read the most books will receive a special prize package including a racing jersey autographed by James Stewart, a set of Scott goggles, 4 VIP passes to the upcoming race at High Point, a tour of the Kawasaki Big Rig and a Racer X Swag Bag.
This contest was well-received by many excited participants and The Dominion Post’s Newspapers In Education program and Marketing department look forward to coordinating next year’s event!
