ESPN X Games Announces Competition Schedule X Games 13 Aug. 2-5, 2007; ESPN Makes Changes to Venues

 
LOS ANGELES –  X Games 13 announces the live competition schedule going into the thirteenth annual event. Last month, ESPN announced the additions of Women’s Surfing, BMX Freestyle Big Air and Moto X Racing –the most recent addition which will bring names like Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed. While the two venues, STAPLES Center and The Home Depot Center, will continue to be the venues for X Games 13, there will be some changes to the locations of the events. Big Air, which has been traditionally held outside at both the STAPLES Center and The Home Depot Center, will now return to the STAPLES Center in an unprecedented indoor competition for Skateboard and BMX Freestyle Big Air. The vert ramp will be moved to The Home Depot Center for the Skateboard and BMX competitions. Fourteen hours of live programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC will be offered as well as X Games 13 coverage on ESPN International, EXPN.com, ESPN Classic, ESPN360.com, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center.

The annual X Games is the premier action sports event in the world and showcases more than 150 of the world’s top athletes competing in BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard and Surfing. Last year, more than 138,000 fans attended the competition at The Home Depot Center and STAPLES Center, an increase of nearly 13 percent over X Games 11 in 2005 while another 35.6 million fans tuned in on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC. The event is scheduled for August 2-5, 2007 with the surfing competition to be held July 3-6, 2007 in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.

Tickets for X Games 13 will be available for purchase June 14 at all Ticketmaster locations and the box offices at STAPLES Center and The Home Depot Center.
