Makita Suzuki’s Dungey Podiums in Dallas Supercross Lites & Tedesco Rallis after Get-Offs

Round 13 – Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series
Dallas, TX
Texas Stadium
March 31, 2007

Team Makita Suzuki Racing’s Ryan Dungey brought home an impressive third-place finish in the Supercross Lites class at the Dallas, Texas, Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross at Texas Stadium on Saturday night.  This podium finish comes on the heels of Dungey’s Indianapolis victory last weekend.  Supercross-class teammate Ivan Tedesco had some bad luck and finished up in 15th.

“I felt like I got back into the groove even though I made a little mistake,” said Dungey.  “I’m happy to be on the box tonight.  After last week, we’re one and three and not one and 18, so I’m happy with that, for sure. The Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 ran great, and everybody on the Makita Suzuki team did a great job on getting the bike ready tonight.  Thanks to my mechanic, ‘Tool Time,’ and everybody else who helped me out.”

In the Supercross class, Tedesco had a great heat race, getting the holeshot in the eight-lap qualifier and finishing second. In the 20-lap main, however, he had a few problems but charged hard on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 and still managed to reel in competitors.

“This weekend’s practice was the best I’ve felt all year,” said Tedesco.  “The Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 felt comfortable and everything seemed to come to me pretty well.  In my heat race, I struggled a little but still ended up in second and I felt like I rode well.  We made a few adjustments to the bike for the main event, which I felt was going to be the ticket for what I needed.  I got a decent start, but on the first lap, I got connected with another rider and went down.  Then I caught up and was coming through the pack, and two guys had come together on the finish line and one of their bikes flipped over and hit me on the hand and knocked me down, but luckily I’m all right.  It was just one of those nights.”

In the Supercross Lites class, Dungey started the night by taking an impressive second place in his six-lap heat race.  Then, in the 15-lap main, he got a good start on his Makita Suzuki RM-Z250 and took over the lead within a few laps.  Unfortunately, the young rider went down in a turn but was back up and still finished on the podium.

“It’s been a good day,” said Dungey afterward.  “Practice was good, even though it was a little bit muddy.  We still put in some good laps on the Makita Suzuki RM-Z250.  Then, going into the heat race, we left the choke on but still managed to finish second and get into the main event.  In the main, we got a pretty good start and I made some passes and got into second place, and then I made the pass for first.  I was leading for about four or five laps, then I made a mistake and went down. But I got back up in third place and just held my position.”

Team Makita Suzuki Racing will take a two-week break and then return for round 14 of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Qwest Stadium in Seattle, WA, on Saturday, April 21, 2007.
