Monster Energy’s Ivan Tedesco 5th @ Indy SX
Tedesco has to take LCQ route – which he wins – to make the Indy main
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 26th, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Ivan Tedesco (Makita/Suzuki) continued his assault on the top five overall AMA Supercross class standings, this past weekend battling to a 5th place overall finish in the main event and moving to within eight points of the top five overall in the standings.
Barring disaster, Tedesco should make up those points this weekend in Dallas as the guy standing in front of him in 5th place overall in the points is his Monster Energy teammate, Ricky Carmichael, who’s officially retired from supercross racing this year.
At Indy Tedesco needed the Last Chance Qualifier to make the main. The New Mexico native made short work of the competition in the LCQ, winning that by nearly five seconds over childhood friend Kevin Johnson.
In the main event Tedesco got held up a bit early in the race and came around in 7th place after the first lap. He then started picking off riders, including former supercross winner David Vuillemin and Honda factory rider Andrew Short to move into 5th, then held off another Honda factory rider, Davi Millsaps, to make the top five overall.
Next up for Tedesco is this weekend’s running of the Dallas Supercross at Texas Stadium, Round 13 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series.
