From Winter X Games snocross gold to top ten in world’s premier supercross series, Monster/Hibbert’s street cred continues to grow in extreme powersports industry
CARLSBAD, Calif., (March 19, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Tucker Hibbert (Motor City Powersports/Yamaha) won the Eastern Supercross Lites class’ Last Chance Qualifier at Orlando’s Citrus Bowl on Saturday night and parlayed that effort into a solid 10th place finish in the Lites class main event.
Hibbert’s effort vaulted him into the top 15 overall. And with three rounds remaining he’s only ten points out of the top ten overall.
“That’s definitely the best race I’ve had this season,” said Hibbert. “Winning the LCQ over (Darcy) Lange was huge for our program. This weekend we head to Indianapolis and I’ve done well there in the past so I hope to make up some more points, get a little bit closer to the top ten in the standings each week.”
Hibbert’s road to the Orlando main event was again highlighted by his win in the LCQ. In winning that event he topped Boo Koo Arenacross champion and current ESX title contender (2nd in points) Lange (Monster Energy/PC/Kawi). In the main event Hibbert, who came out of the first lap in 18th overall, put down the ninth fastest time - just a click over a second off the lead time by Lange’s Monster Energy’s teammate, Ben Townley.
Next up for Hibbert is this Saturday’s (March 24h) running of the Indianapolis Supercross at the RCA Dome. Last year Hibbert finished 8th at the RCA Dome.
Hibbert is riding Artic Cat sleds and Yamaha dirt bikes this winter. For more information on snocross, check out www.powersportstour.com. For supercross, link to www.supercross.cc.com.
