Yesterday in Pasadena, Mike Goodwin received two consecutive life terms for the murders of his old business partner Mickey Thompson and his wife Trudy. Goodwin, who is considered the founder of American supercross, was found guilty on January 4, 2007 of the double-murders, which took place back in 1988. According to a report in today's Orange County Register, Goodwin told the sentencing judge, "I can't apologize because I'm not guilty of this crime."
The prosecution had argued in the trial that while Goodwin did not actually do the shooting, he sent two hit men to kill the Thompsons after their business relationship caused expensive litigation and hard feelings.
According to the Assoicated Press, defense motions for a new trial were denied.
