Rodney Smith Returns to GNCC Racing

Five-time GNCC Champion Rodney Smith will return to the GNCC Series this weekend for the opening round at Corrigan Ranch in Vero Beach, Florida. Smith won his last GNCC title in 2004, but has since been unable to compete for a whole season due to a series of injuries.

Presently, Rodney is healthy and ready to race. He plans on competing in the new GNCC XC2 Pro Lites class (0-125cc 2-stroke; 0-250cc 4-stroke) aboard a new Suzuki RMZ250. Smith will be joined at the GNCC in Florida by Team Suzuki/FMF Off-Road team-mates Jimmy Jarrett, Glenn Kearny, and Josh Strang all of whom will compete in the XC1 Pro class (0-open) aboard RM250 2-strokes.

Many consider Rodney Smith to be the greatest off-road racer in American history. In addition to his five GNCC Championships ('98, '99, '01, '02, '04); Smith holds the 1988 Brazilian National Motocross Champion, multiple ISDE Gold Medals, is a three-Time AMA National Reliability Series Champion ('94, '96, '97); and the five-Time AMA National Hare Scrambles Champion ('93, '94, '95, '96, '98).
