Team DNA Energy Drink / BTOSports / BBMX rider Bryan Johnson, Jr. was injured in a practice crash yesterday in Cairo, GA. Johnson suffered a fractured knee cap in the crash and will be out for approximately four weeks.
Johnson was coming off of his strongest weekend of the series so far where he finished an incredible 7th place at the Atlanta SX in the Supercross class. "It hurts right now, but I'm sure most of it is from the swelling at the moment. The fracture was not that bad and I think I will be back pretty quickly so I won't lose that much seat time. I am feeling stronger than I have ever felt this season and look forward to coming back right where I finished last weekend, in the top ten", said Johnson.
Team riders Doug DeHaan and Shaun Skinner will both be out for this weekends St. Louis round as well from concussions they endured at the Atlanta SX. Both riders will sit out for safety reasons and will return for next weeks Daytona SX. "Atlanta was a tough race for the team. It was a very rutty and non forgiving track which unfortunately bit both Skinner and DeHaan. Jason Thomas also took a very hard fall in his heat, but got up to win the LCQ and then go on to a 13th place finish in the main event. It was just one of those tracks that had a lot of riders hitting the ground. However at the same time, Johnson pulled off a career high finish of 7th so there was a lot of good to come of the night as well. It of course is bad news that he hurt himself in practice yesterday, but all my team riders are very strong guys and will bounce back in no time", says team owner Forrest Butler.
