Brett Metcalfe Out For Atlanta
IRVINE, Calif. (February 20, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Brett Metcalfe will miss the Eastern Regional AMA Supercross Lites opener in Atlanta due to a shoulder injury sustained at the 2006 Motocross Des Nations.
Metcalfe, who has been recuperating from shoulder surgery in September, is hoping to make his return in Orlando but will first need clearance from his surgeon Dr. Paul R. Reiman.
"Brett has worked extremely hard in rehabilitating his shoulder from extensive reconstruction of both his ligaments and rotator cuff,” said Reiman. “He is getting close to being race ready but for now light riding is all I am able to release him for."
Metcalfe will ride his new Kawasaki KX™250F for the first time this week, which he has been looking forward to since making the switch to Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki.
“I hope to be cleared and ready to race by Orlando,” said Metcalfe from his home in Murrieta, Calif. “I am really excited to be on the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team this year; we have the best people and equipment.”
Metcalfe had his best year in the 2006 racing season, visiting the podium several times and finishing consistently in the top five. Well regarded for his intense training and commitment, the likeable Australian was a perfect match for the hard working Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki team.
