Chad Reed Closes the Championship Gap with a Win in San Diego

  • Chad Reed Closes the Championship Gap with a Win in San Diego

San Diego, California – February 20, 2007 - L&M Racing's Chad Reed closes the championship gap to within 12 points with a win in San Diego this past weekend.

San Diego has been good to Chad Reed.  Reed has won there four out of the last five years, marking the start of a mid season winning spree that saw the Championship come down to the final race last year.  The win was especially sweet for Chad who won the opening round of the Supercross season in Toronto but then injured his shoulder testing and was forced to ride the first few races of the season with a severely hurt shoulder.  “The start of this year was so disappointing,” Reed said. “It’s hard to be hurt and miss all that testing in the first month of the season. I feel like everything is coming together now. My team has worked so hard. They left no stone unturned in trying to give me the best bike possible.”

This year Reed hopes once again to gain momentum off his victory in San Diego as the season nears the half way point.  “I was super excited to get the win,” said Reed, “It was more of a relief than anything else. I knew I could win, I just had to keep putting myself in a position to do so.”  The hard work and tenacity paid off as Reed was able to cruise to victory before the near capacity crowd of 62,000 spectators.  With the Championship chase once again so close, look for Chad to capitalize on his recent momentum as the series heads to Atlanta this weekend where Chad was the big winner in 2004.

Chad Reed is sponsored by: San Manuel, Yamaha, Unbound Energy Drink, Nike, Parts Unlimited, THOR, AM/PM, Bridgestone, AFAM, D.I.D., VP Fuels, GYTR, Yamalube, One Industries, Pro Taper, White Brothers, OGIO, Alpinestars, and Scott.
