  • FIM Junior World Trophy to be Displayed at Motorcycle Hall of Fame

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (Dec. 13, 2006) – The FIM Junior World Trophy will be on display at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio, throughout 2007. The junior team’s victory in New Zealand last month marked only the third time in the 81 year history of the International Six Days Enduro that a U.S. team has brought home a trophy.

The U.S. Junior Trophy Team riders of Kurt Caselli, Ricky Dietrich, David Pearson and Russell Bobbitt overcame everything the FIM Maxxis International Six Days Enduro could throw at them to become only the second American Junior Team (riders under 23) to win the international competition.

America previously won the Junior World Trophy in 1991.

“We’re proud of what our team was able to accomplish in New Zealand,” said AMA CEO Patti DiPietro. “This is one of the most historic events in all of motorcycle competition and doing well at the ISDE is something we’ve been striving to do in the 42 years since America first competed.”

The ISDE is one of the oldest motorcycle events in the world. It was first founded to prove the reliability of motorcycles and the skill of their riders. When the ISDE was first run, most people were still riding horses and the makers of motorcycles needed to prove that motorcycles could be a reliable form of transportation.

In addition to the American Junior squad wins this year and in 1991, the U.S. World Trophy team won the Silver Vase in 1973 when the race was held in the Berkshire Mountains in Massachusetts.

The Junior World Trophy will be displayed at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame alongside the Motocross of Nations Trophy, also won by the U.S. this year with riders James Stewart, Ivan Tedesco and Ryan Villopoto.
