Sign of the (Lap) Times: Toronto
It seems almost unbelievable that the 2007 Amp’d Mobile World SXGP season is already underway—and what a race it was! Throughout the season after every event, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at the best lap times posted by the top 10 riders in each class, for our new “Scott USA Sign of the (Lap) Times.” For this week’s study, we found all of our information on www.supercrossonline.com, which is the official website of the Amp’d Mobile Supercross Series.
450 class
It really comes to no surprise that Team Kawasaki’s James Stewart logged the fastest lap time of the night in Canada with a 50.434, which came on lap 6, does it?
But what does come to a surprise is that Chad Reed had the second fastest time of the night—a 50.925, coming on lap 7 of the main event. Reed, of course, was leading at the time, and Stewart was trying to reel him in.
Also, following the new timed qualifying in practice, Reed was sitting in fourth-place behind JS, RC and DV12. “I was a little disappointed,” Reed admitted to Steve Bruhn in today’s Monday Conversation, but he put that all behind him in the main event.

Carmichael, on the other hand, had the third-fastest lap time with a 51.330, and surprisingly that came on lap 3, directly following his run-in with the Tuff Block. Team Kawasaki’s Tim Ferry was able to step it up in the main event and logged the fourth-fastest time—a 51.964—which came on lap nine.

It was a triumphant debut for Ecuador’s Martin Davalos on his new Red Bull KTM, and although it wasn’t a “stacked” field, Davalos recorded some impressive times on his new ride. His 52.767 came on lap 3, and looking at the 450 class, that would’ve put him in between the Honda’s of MDK Motorsport’s Nick Wey and Team Solitaire’s Ryan Clark. But of course Martin had a clear track—he holeshot and led every lap of each race he was in on Saturday night!
