Pre-Race Press Conference, Friday and Saturday Night’s Racing and Post-Race Press Conferences. Log on to Hear Ricky Carmichael’s Big Announcement
AURORA, Ill. (October 10, 2006) – The 2006 Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open will webcast the pre-race press conference, featuring Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael and Kawasaki’s James Stewart as well as Friday and Saturday night’s races. Fans won’t want to miss the pre-race press conference as reigning Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open champion Carmichael will be making a major announcement.
Due to some minor technological upgrades, fans wishing to listen to the three webcasts over the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open weekend will need to register in advance at www.ussx.com or www.supercrossonline.com prior to listening.
On Thursday, October 12 from 3:00-5:00p.m. Supercross LIVE! host Jason Weigandt will emcee the pre-race press conference. Carmichael and Stewart will discuss the weekend’s race with the media as they prepare to compete against each other for the first time ever inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“Once again we are excited to bring fans from around the world not only live racing action but a preview of the weekend’s race during the pre-race press conference where Ricky Carmichael will make a major announcement,” said Linda Ardehali, director of new media, Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open. ”This year’s webcast promises to be especially unique because of the revamped race format and the addition of the Toyota Trifecta.”
On Friday and Saturday evenings the webcast begins at 7:00 p.m. with a preview of the festivities from Wiegandt and co-host Jim Holley. Following the pre-show, qualifying for the newly added Superpole will begin.
Throughout the race fans will have the chance to win special prizes and discuss the race with Supercross LIVE! hosts Wiegandt and Holley. Following the podium ceremonies, the webcast will give fans an inside perspective of the evening’s racing by giving them a front-row seat at the post-race press conference.
Built into this year's Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open format will be the three part Toyota Trifecta bonus program that will pay additional money to the fastest qualifier for each night's event, a bonus to each night's Progressive Direct Holeshot winner and a bonus for any rider that can complete the Toyota Trifecta challenge by being the fastest qualifier, getting the Progressive Direct Holeshot and winning the main event. Any rider that hits the Toyota Trifecta will earn a $50,000 bonus each night in addition to the regular event purse and any rider that can "Double Down" and hit the Toyota Trifecta both nights will walk away with $250,000 for the weekend.
