  • WBR signs Motul; ramps up for Anaheim opener

CHINO, CA - January 3, 2006 - WBR Suzuki is gearing up for round one of the Supercross Lite Division of the 2006 AMA Supercross Series. Team riders Ryan Sipes #36, Ryan Morais #82 and rookie Michael LaPaglia #138 have been training intensively all week in Southern California in anticipation of the opening event.

"The boys are really going fast," team owner Brad Williams said from his Bakersfield, CA home, "We've got an incredible amount of talent behind this team with Team Coach David Bailey, Trainer Todd Jacobs and Manager Tony Sulek. Everyone associated with the team is putting in maximum effort. I think we will have some good results and hope to battle for the title at the end of the season."

WBR Team Manager Tony Sulek has been really busy. In addition to organizing the testing, scheduling, and development; he also has been dealing with sponsor relations.  "We are proud to announce the addition of Motul as a program partner with WBR. Dave Wolman at Motul really came through for us and we are excited about this new association. Motul products are top-flight, and will contribute greatly to our team." One of WBR's primary sponsors, Hahm Motorsports, is based in Anaheim and is also involved in sponsoring the Anaheim races. "We hope to do well," Sulek explained, "and repay some of their support for us."

WBR has been on a relentless testing schedule for quite some time now. "We have been doing all the suspension and motor testing, we are dialing in the bits and pieces of the puzzle," Sulek said, "Rob at RG-3 suspension has been dialing in the suspension and has it really nice. The riders are really positive about how the bikes are working and the confidence level is very high.  Hopefully with all this effort we will be drinking some champagne after Anaheim One."

The WBR Team riders have been testing the engines as well with legendary Yoshimura motor guru Satoshi Momma supervising the engine development efforts.

"We have a good relationship with the Suzuki race team guys and they have been giving us a lot of help." Satoshi says, "We have found some things that are working quite well and feel confident in our engine program. We have a good combination of peak power and mid-range. Overall, the package is pretty good."

One thing for sure, WBR has been working hard to prepare. The early season Vancouver race showed some early payoff with all three riders placing in the Top 10.  After Anaheim One, the WBR Team could easily be a team to beat in 2006.
