Morning Report
Good morning race fans! Welcome to Lucas Oil Stadium for the tenth round of Monster Energy AAM Supercross! Today’s race will bring us the second Triple Crown event of 2024—but the first for the 250SX East Region field—as we start the second half swing of the season. The Indianapolis dirt is known for breaking down and providing rough, rutted up courses. Expect the same today, especially with tonight’s main program being a Triple Crown race.
You know most of the storylines entering the weekend, but here is a quick refresher. In the 450SX Championship, Jett Lawrence enters the day with a 13-point lead over Cooper Webb after the #18 took his second consecutive win last weekend in Alabama (his fourth main event win of the season). In 2023, Ken Roczen earned his only win on the season at Lucas Oil Stadium as he held off a charging Justin Barcia on the last two laps of the main event. And in the first Triple Crown of the year—the Anaheim 2 Supercross—we saw three different riders take the three race wins (Chase Sexton, Jason Anderson, and Eli Tomac), with a fourth different rider taking the overall win (Cooper Webb). Will that parity continue, or will Jett Lawrence continue his hot streak?
In the 250SX East Region, Max Anstie entered last weekend’s race with the points lead, but a mechanic failure left him pushing his bike off the track early into the race, scoring 21st officially. Enter Tom Vialle, who backed up his Daytona SX win with a second consecutive win in Alabama. The #16 enters today with the points lead and red plates on his KTM 250 SX-F but he has a slim, one-point margin over one Cameron McAdoo. McAdoo, known previously for his extremely high highs and low lows, has been consistent this year, even though his 15th at the opener following the first turn pileup does not show this. The Kawasaki rider’s 2-2-2 in the last three races has him right in the title fight. Expect some more chaos in the unpredictable 250cc division again tonight, especially with today being a Triple Crown format. This three-race program is all-new to some of these supercross rookies, second-, and third-year riders. As we know from the premier class, consistency in this format is huge.

Free Practice
250SX
Chance Hymas led the 250SX group A session field early on in the first few laps. Cameron McAdoo took over the top spot for a few seconds until points leader Tom Vialle jumped into P1 after his heater lap (a 50.250). Max Anstie jumped into second place with a 50.316. On the fifth and final lap, Haiden Deegan dropped a 50.121 to move into the top spot. Again, these times do not count for overall qualifying.
And Coty Schock, who is only a few days removed from surgery to fix his broken collarbone suffered in Alabama a week ago, came out for free practice on his Yamaha YZ250F! Schock put down a 41.821, which was ninth fastest on the session.
450SX
In the 450SX group A session, it was Justin Cooper and Jason Anderson leading the track early. Ken Roczen jumped into P1 with a 49.329. Justin Barcia, Cooper, and Eli Tomac rounded out the top five. Chase Sexton sat sixth, Cooper Webb eighth, Jett Lawrence 11th, and Hunter Lawrence 12th. Hunter Lawrence is making his return to racing after missing last weekend with a shoulder injury he suffered at the Daytona SX. Again, these times do not count for overall qualifying.
First Qualifying Sessions
250SX
Jeremy Hand’s 53.159 topped the first 250SX group C qualifying session. Jorgen Talviku topped the first 250SX group B qualifying session with a 54.335.
When the 250SX group A took to the track, it was Pierce Brown leading the field as Seth Hammaker, Cameron McAdoo, and Max Anstie rolled down the start straight last after everyone else had already taken off. Hammaker’s 52.544 was the fastest first full lap. Quickly, Tom Vialle put down a 52.232 and moved into P1. The #16 picked up right where he left off in free practice. Brown was the first rider to go sub 52 as he went 51.543. Haiden Deegan’s name popped up to the top of the board immediately after, following a 51.494 from the #38. Brown and Vialle then each returned to P1 again, until it was a 49.492 from Anstie was the first sub 50-second lap. Anstie’s hot lap, which came on the tenth and final lap of the session, was about half a second faster than Vialle’s. Deegan’s top time was fifth fastest. Coty Schock, again racing today after his collarbone surgery earlier this week, was 11th with a 53.018.
“It’s a tricky track tonight,” said Anstie. “It’s always tough when we come here. Good way to start the day, happy to start if off like this.”

450SX
We saw some began, it was Jason Anderson and Adam Cianciarulo were out front as the green flag waved. Justin Barcia’s 49.880 was the first sub 50-second lap time, and there were a lot more to come in the next few laps. The flood gates opened, as Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton, Jason Anderson, and Jett Lawrence all went sub 50-second too. The track continued to get beat down as the whoops still gave a lot of riders trouble. Malcolm Stewart went down in the whoops but got up and going again seconds later. At the end of the session, Justin Cooper jumped to P1 with a 48.671 over Sexton’s 48.805 and Tomac’s 48.820. Cooper has taken a step up in qualifying the last few weeks. It is only a matter of time until he translates that into the night show and a podium(s).
Anthony Rodriguez (450SX group B) and Josh Greco (450SX group C) topped their overall sessions. Keep an eye on these B and C times—in both classes—as the Triple Crown format takes only the top 18 in overall qualifying. Some riders from these sessions could jump riders in the A group.

Second Qualifying Sessions
250SX
The gates dropped on the fake holeshot, and it was Haiden Deegan leading the field out of the firs turn. But in the second turn, Deegan tipped over. He stood up and let the rest of the field pass before he picked up his Yamaha YZ250F and got going. Pierce Brown was leading the field both on the track and on the scoring page. Brown’s 50.127 was followed by a 50.474 from Tom Vialle. The GasGas rider went to put down another heater, but he tipped over in the second turn, got going again and fell in a turn half a lap later. He went to the mechanics’ area and regrouped before going out onto the track again. Daxton Bennick went down in the sand, took his goggles off, and took a minute to get up as he was hunched over. The Yamaha rider got up finally and returned to the track. When the checkered flag flew, Vialle’s 49.492 stood as the top time of the session. Somehow, the #16’s fastest time tied Max Anstie’s fast lap from the first qualifying session. So, what is the tiebreaker? According to the 2024 AMA Supercross rulebook, section 1.7.9 Final Determination of Finishing Positions says the following:
e. If two or more Riders have the same fast laptime during a Practice or Timed Qualifying session, Riders will be ranked in the order that they completed the fast laptime.
So, since Anstie’s lap time was in the first session compared to Vialle’s in the second session, he takes P1 overall over Vialle.
A few riders to note NOT in the top 18 of overall qualifying: Jeremy Martin (21st), Hardy Munoz (25th), Dominique Thury (27th), Preston Kilroy (31st), and Preston Boespflug (34th).

450SX
Ken Roczen was leading the 450SX group A second qualifying session with a 48.629. Riders continued to rip off fast laps as they found their grove. Jett Lawrence moved into the top spot after a 48.523 as the field continued to push the limits. Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb were both under 0.05 seconds behind the #18. Roczen’s top time was fourth, just over one second back of Jettson. Jason Anderson was fifth, Chase Sexton was sixth, Hunter Lawrence eighth in his return after missing last weekend. Justin Cooper qualified 11th overall.

LCQs
250SX
The 250SX LCQ gate dropped, and it was Hardy Munoz who grabbed the race lead! Luca Marsalisi and Jeremy Martin made brief contact in the air, and Marsalisi went sideways and slammed down hard in an awkward crash. He got up quickly and made his way over to the space between the rhythm section and the whoops, but it was tough for the Alpinestars medical crew to tend to him. The following lap, Munoz came around then got cross-rutted coming out of the turn, which caused him to hand over the lead and possibly lose a shot at transferring. But since the medics needed to stabilize Marsalisi, the race was red flagged. Munoz was the last over to the gates for the restart, but since he did not cause the red flag he could restart. His mechanic quickly started changing his broken clutch lever and replacing it with a new one. Marsalisi was placed on a back board and taken off the track, giving a thumbs up to the crowd. They replied with a respectful cheer.
Once the gate dropped on the restart, it was Munoz and his new clutch lever who blasted out of the first turn in the race lead! Jeremy Martin made a pass for the lead a few laps later and the #6 cruised to the race win. Ryder Floyd got around Munoz for second and on the last lap, Preston Boespflug made a pass on Jorgen Talviku exiting the whoops to claim the fourth and final transfer spot! Talviku tried to respond, but he went down in the turn, giving Boespflug one turn of free air to hold onto fourth.

450SX
The gate dropped on the 450SX LCQ and it was none other than Kyle Chisholm exiting the first turn ahead of the field! The #11 led Justin Starling, Devin Simonson, Grant Harlan, and Fredrik Noren. Ryan Breece made a two-for-one pass on Noren and Harlan, but Noren fought back! Chisholm had 2.5 seconds on Starling, but the #66, Simonson, Noren, Breece, and Harlan were in a huge battle to the checkered flag. Breece had a great last run through the whoops, but blew the turn, which allowed Noren to hold onto the fourth and final spot after Chisholm, Starling, and Simonson.

Night Show
250SX Race 1
The gates dropped on the first 250SX race of the night and it was Jalek Swoll and Daxton Bennick. Bennick led Cameron McAdoo, Tom Vialle, Swoll, Haiden Deegan, Coty Schock, and Max Anstie, but Bennick went down in the sand, which allowed McAdoo to inherit the race lead. Deegan was on the rear fender of Vialle and almost running into his competitor and doing a stoppie exiting the whoops not to hit his competitor! Pierce Brown had a mistake that dropped him back, then moments later Anstie went over the berm in the same turn! Anstie would finish 19th. Seth Hammaker charged from outside the top five up to fourth, then when Vialle fell, Deegan and Hammaker both bumped up one spot to second and third, respectively. Schock made a pass on Swoll to take over fifth. McAdoo took the race win over Deegan, Hammaker, Vialle, and Schock. Bennick came through 11th.

450SX Race 1
The 450SX field blasted out of the gates and it was Ken Roczen in the lead! The #94 had Jason Anderson and Jett Lawrence right behind him, as the #18 quickly jumped to second. Benny Bloss looked like he had some sort of issue as he rolled one full lap then pulled off, picked up his mechanic, and rode off through the tunnel. Out front, Roczen and Jett Lawrence were jumping the roller wall into the whoops then jumping through the whoops—which no one else picked up on yet. Then, the #18 made a pass on Roczen in the sand turn after the finish line. Roczen went outside, Lawrence went inside and became the new race leader. Cooper Webb was all over Anderson for third, then made a pass. However, the #2 accidentally landed on a lapped rider and went down. He would remount in eighth, which is where he would finish the race. Chase Sexton and Eli Tomac both got around Anderson, who then had late pressure from Aron Plessinger. Roczen took the race win as Roczen, Sexton, Tomac, and Anderson rounded out the top five.

250SX Race 2
The field blasted off for the second 250SX race and it was Jalek Swoll again with the holeshot. Swoll led Haiden Deegan, Seth Hammaker, Cameron McAdoo, Tom Vialle, Coty Schock, Hymas, and Pierce Brown. Deegan quickly jumped by Swoll to take over P1, then he ran away with the race win. McAdoo passed Swoll, then Hammaker crashed in the long rhythm section when he tried to get by Swoll. Deegan opened up a five-second lead over McAdoo as the #38 put down a blazing 49.493! Hammaker went down again, this time in the whoops, then Daxton Bennick had his second crash of the night when he crashed in the whoops a second later. Brown had his second trip to the ground as well, when he went down after the two tabletops. Deegan took the checkered flag, McAdoo came through second, and Vialle third, followed by Brown and a solid fifth from Hymas.
Heading into the final race, Deegan (2-1) and McAdoo (1-2) are tied for the overall win. This third race will decide the overall winner!

450SX Race 2
The 450SX field blasted out of the grates for the second 450SX race and Jett Lawrence picked up where he left off in the first race: out front. But Ken Roczen jumped to the outside and made a quick pass into the lead in the long rhythm section! As they came through the green flag, Roczen led J. Lawrence, Aaron Plessinger, Jason Anderson, Chase Sexton, Justin Barcia, Cooper Webb, Malcolm Stewart, Hunter Lawrence, and Eli Tomac. The #18 passed his competitor to retake the race lead and jumping into the whoops section gave him some breathing room. Adam Cianciarulo had a slam on the two tabletop section where he got up, signaled to the fans that he was safe, and then got going again. Sexton and Webb and Anderson engaged in a battle. Sexton got the #2 for fourth, then the #21 for third as he was charging forward. Webb and Plessinger both got around Anderson, who dropped anchor like he did in race one. He was about two seconds a lap slower than the guys around him when he was getting passed late in the race. Plessinger got by Anderson as well. Roczen found a jumping line on the very left of the whoops which allowed him to close up some on Jettson. However, Roczen did not get close enough for a pass, so Jettson took the checkered flag, starting his night with 1-1 finishes. Heading into the final race, Jett Lawrence leads with 1-1 finishes over Roczen’s 2-2 finishes, and Sexton’s 3-3 finishes.

250SX Race 3
For the third and final time, the 250SX field blasted out of the gates as the fire fired off the top of the starting area. There were a few riders down in a pileup, including Haiden Deegan, Chance Hymas, Max Anstie, and Seth Hammaker. Out front with the holeshot was Nick Romano in his first ever Triple Crown event. Tom Vialle got into the lead and checked out for the race win as Pierce Brown moved around Romano to take over second place. Cameron McAdoo followed Vialle and Brown past Romano, as Deegan was forced to fight back through the field. By the time he got into second, McAdoo was in a good spot for the overall win. Daxton Bennick got around Romano for fourth. Vialle took the checkered flag over Brown, McAdoo, Bennick, and Romano as Deegan came through sixth. In terms of the overall, McAdoo took first overall, Vialle second overall, and Deegan third overall. Unofficially, McAdoo is the new 250SX East Region points leader.

450SX Race 3
The third and final 450SX race dropped the gates and it was Ken Roczen and Jett Lawrence out front early as Chase Sexton, Cooper Webb, and Justin Coopered filled the top five early. Eli Tomac came through the green flag in tenth. Cooper got shuffled back by Jason Anderson, Aaron Plessinger, and Justin Barcia, then Plessinger ran into the back of Anderson! The mistake dropped the KTM cowboy’s KTM to the dirt and he lost several spots when he remounted, going from seventh to tenth. Out front, Roczen and Lawrence went back and forth, which allowed Sexton and Webb to catch up to them. Sexton was all over the rear fender of and then the two traded spots, until Sexton eventually came out on top. Lawrence had about a second and a half lead behind the Sexton, Roczen, and Webb trio that was charging, but ran out of time. The #18 took the checkered flag—his third straight on the night—to give him a perfect sweep of the 450SX Triple Crown (only the second time a rider has swept 450SX in the three-race format after Roczen did so in 2024. Sexton and Roczen rounded out the podium in the third race and the overall, respectively. Roczen’s 2-2-3 was second overall on the night and Sexton’s 3-3-2 was third overall. Anderson’s 5-6-5 was fourth overall and Webb’s 8-5-4 was fifth overall. Eli Tomac’s 4-7-10 was seventh overall. Hunter Lawrence’s 10-10-12 was 11th overall in his return to racing after missing last weekend. Jett Lawrence leaves round 10 with a 21-point championship lead over Webb.
