Observations
Steve Matthes scours the pits and digs up all the dirt each and every week in his popular online feature: Observations.
- Observations: OaklandFebruary 1, 2011As I wrote in Racerhead on Friday, I might have been a bit harsh on James Stewart last week but I stand by the gist of the article which was that he needed a “James Stewart soul crushing” kind of ride this week so that everyone knew he was the man, everyone understood that he had lost nothing during his long layoff and that the magic was back.
- Observations: Los AngelesJanuary 26, 2011Brand new venue on the SX tour and brand new thoughts as well! It’s amazing how that works, right? This week we were in Dodger Stadium and it was pretty cool.
- Observations: PhoenixJanuary 19, 2011Phoenix has traditionally been the second of the series and always has a pretty good track. They throw some sand in there and make it a bit more technical than the opening round.
- Observations: Anaheim 1January 12, 2011The first race of the 2011 season kicked off and the first of what is 29 races (17 SX and 12 MX) has started. The series kicked off at the traditional Angel Stadium at Anaheim (can you imagine kicking the SX series anywhere else? Remember when they went to Orlando? What was that all about?) and we were set for some exciting racing.
- Is 2011 Ryan Villopoto's Revenge?January 4, 2011There’s nothing I can do to fix it or re-do it (the crash) so I don’t worry about it. It’s definitely frustrating. Kawasaki hired me to do a job and I haven’t fulfilled my end of the bargain.
