Belgian website nieuwsblad.be is reporting that ten-time FIM Motocross World Champion Stefan Everts was admitted to the University Hospital of Leuven on Thursday as he was experiencing pain in his right foot.
According to the report, it was found that Everts had contracted an infection in one of the wounds on his foot and that it must be treated with antibiotics. The report says that Everts will remain in the hospital for two to six weeks so that the antibiotics can work.
In December of 2018, Everts contracted malaria, a mosquito-borne disease caused by a parasite, while participating in a charity event in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In January, Everts was released from intensive care to begin rehabilitation.
