Shocking news from off-road racing legend Destry Abbott. The long time Kawasaki Team Green off-road rider announced yesterday on his Instagram page that he has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Abbott is a five-time champion in AMA Hare and Hound, a multi-time gold medalist at the International Six-Days Enduro (ISDE) as well as a fan favorite in EnduroCross, and is also versatile enough to have qualified for an AMA Pro Motocross National before, as well as contend for titles in the vet classes at Loretta’s.
More importantly, he’s simply one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, and a superb ambassador for dirt bike racing. These days, even his children have gotten involved in the sport as racers and industry workers, while Destry develops his DA8 training facility and riding camps.

U.S.A., AMA District 37, GNCC Racing, Racer X, Dirt Bike magazine, Dirt Rider magazine, Cycle News, High Desert Adventures, MavTV, Lucas Oil, Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, EnduroCross, Mark Kariya Photography, Parts Magazine, DJ Louie Ochoa Corona Motorhome Rentals, Thrust Productions, Derek Gibson Designs, TBT Racing and Sidi are planning a fundraiser.
The event will take place on June 21 from 5:00-10:00 P.M. at Pole Position Raceway (1594 E. Bentley Dr., Corona, CA 92879).
The event will include indoor kart racing with celebrities, both silent and live auction items, food trucks and lots more.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help work the fundraiser should meet at Pole Position Raceway on May 26 at 7:00 P.M.
