Racing Continues: Bercy-Lille Organizer Statement
After Friday night's shocking, tragic terrorist attacks in Paris, there was much thought that the Bercy-Lille Supercross, held about 90 minutes away, would be cancelled. After much deliberation, the races went on as scheduled. On Saturday morning, we we received this letter from our friend Xavier Audouard, who has been organizing the event since its inception in 1984:
Despite the tragic events in Paris, the promoters of the event, along with the French Authorities, French Federation and the riders, have decided that the best tribute to give to the victims was...to stick together and not change anything to our program (and our lifestyle), which would be exactly what the terrorists are looking for. Obviously, security has been strengthened even further all around the event.
We sincerely and deeply thank all the riders and their crews/families for the fantastic attitude they are displaying, as I write this from the stadium. We are deeply grateful for what you are doing.
And now, LET'S GO RACING!!
